Into the Snow-Sea
M.A.H. Hinton

ripples
on frozen snow
remind us of waves
on a restless lake

on the coldest of days
we long to dive
into the snow-sea
that surrounds
our little town

to kick down deep
through the layers
of winter days
to where we know
the first days
of summer
are already waiting

M.A.H. Hinton grew up in Montana, lives in Minnesota, and has been writing for more than 40 years. His publications include poetry in Spitball and in upcoming issues of Aji and Temenos. He has also published several Western short stories.
