Recipe for Oatmeal

Take an uninterrupted
morning, your favorite
newspaper. Add dry
oatmeal to boiling water
and stir. Keep stirring.
Turn down the radio
to hear the sound
of something else
roiling, fattened flakes
turning in the current,
the way they don’t complain.
